1984 Article from Broadcast Sound Magazine (1,156 pdf) In the May / June issue of Broadcast Sound Magazine, a three page article appeared about the bigger Dublin stations, Sunshine Radio, Radio Nova and KISS FM. The article, written by Brian Robinson and Miles Johnston, contains fairly detailed information about the station setups in those early days. |

'Management Magazine' Article (A Business View) - April 1983 (2,255k pdf) The April 1983 edition of 'Management Magazine' featured an interesting piece on the Irish 'Pirates'. It is different from most articles in that it looks at the financial side of the operations, and in particular Radio Nova. This was one of several articles in various magazines at this time about the success of the pirates. Was it the revelation of the amount of money which Radio Nova was taking in advertising which caused the raids several weeks later? |

Chris Cary Article in Phoenix Magazine 28th October 1983 (291k pdf) Below is an interesting article from Phoenix Magazine from around the time when the Radio Nova high powered equipment had been returned following the raid of May that year. Radio Nova had recently resumed 10kW operation on 819kHz (it had been on 1kW since May) and KISS FM was back on the air on 102.7MHz (it had been off the air since the raid). The 50kW transmitter was actually being installed at the time, and Nova TV was only weeks away. No wonder that some thought he was the man to sort out RTE (see last paragraph of article). |
