Radio Cill Dara operated to County Kildare mainly at weekends during 1978 announcing as 270m and giving an address in Newbridge. The exact frequency was 1120.5kHz (see photo of crystal below). Presenters included Johnny Day, Alistair Mac, Jimmy St Ledger, The Duke, Declan Ryan, Alan Hill and Billy The Kid. It was last listed in Sounds Alternative on 270m in the early part of 1979, by which time a transmitter was being operated on shortwave 6260kHz on a Sunday morning.  The shortwave service was believed last heard during late 1979. An early history of the station was featured in Sounds Alternative Issue 3 from February / March 1978.

A hand drawn QSL from 1979 received by Gary with the above letter, after the station appeared on shortwave as Radio Cill Dara International.
The letter confirms Naas, Co Kildare as the station home town.
The tape mentioned in the letter sadly never arrived,
and the cuttings enclosed from the 270m days are currently mislaid, but will be added as soon as they are found.
