Kent
North Radio, or KNR as the jingles promoted, was believed to have
actually broadcast mainly from the coast of Essex and could also be
heard across in Kent, as well as in North and East London during the
late 1970's. It was originally a medium wave station, but by
1979 was transmitting on 96.3MHz FM on a Sunday afternoon as KNR-FM.
The station heavily promoted free radio, and the presenters used large
numbers of jingles and promotions to make the programmes very entertaining.
Many of the transmissions are believed to have been made from the
same site as Essex Radio now use for one of their FM outlets, which
is also on 96.3MHz!!! |
This
recording was made in North London on Sunday 7th October 1979.
The station was operating on 96.3MHz, and this extract features Jeff
Corbett up to and including the sign-off. This may have been
one of the last broadcasts from the station. (File size
