MAR was off the air on Saturday 14th February 1981. However to make up for the loss of broadcasting hours, the station ran continuously for 24 hours, from 0900 on Sunday morning to 0900 Monday morning 16th February. John Dwyer and Martin Green did the final shows at breakfast time before the station left the air at 0900. This overnight schedule and breakfast show in February ties in with the article below from a local newspaper around that time. |

The radio was tuned slightly off channel, so when the transmitter is switched off, BBC Derby can be heard underneath on 1116kHz. |

At the end of April, Mike Stand did his final shows on the station. Intitially the 19th April was supposed to be the last, however the last part of his show was never broadcast as the aerial came down. Mike did his actual 'last' show on 26th April. This left just John Dwyer from the original October 1979 lineup. Anne Stand (who Mike referred to as his 'mum') took over his time slot for a short while. Some new voices were heard over the following weeks, including Dave Graham, Andy Scott, Gary Brooks, Nick White and Jeff Berry. |

Recorded in Liverpool from 1125kHz. The transmitter modulation was a little distorted at times on this recording. |

August
1981 seemed to be the last time the original MAR was heard on the
air, and we have only one recording from the early part of the
month.
We have also included here, a short extract of Andy Davis on Station
J1000 commenting
on the goings on at MAR, which was being 'jammed' during early August
1981. Andy plays his own recording of the goings on during the Chris
Francis show on MAR the previous day. At the time there was apparently some rivalry between John Dwyer and Matt Black which may have resulted in two stations being on at the same time. |

This is a clip from a broadcast from Station J1000. Andy Davis re-broadcasts some airchecks he recorded from MAR the previous week as recorded in North Wales during a period when another transmitter was jamming them on 1125kHz in early August. This seemed to be a 6th September repeat of a show from earlier in August. |
