============================================================= PERSEUS FOR SALE =============================================================
UPDATE: - SOLD I now have a Perseus for sale that is only a couple of months old, invoice date (supplied) 5th August from Lynch in the UK. Still has 10 months warranty, hence price of around £550. (New price around £700??) Contact me at the contact button, anyone interested, and make me an offer I can't refuse!! The unit is 100% working, and in the box as it was delivered. I should even be able to fit the power adaptor in the box....lol.. Ideally buyer would be in the UK, to where I am willing to include postage in the price. Serial number is 2614.
============================================================================ NRD 545 FOR SALE SOLD
I have finally decided to sell my treasured NRD 545. The receiver is in perfectly good working condition. I have not really used it in anger in the last couple of years, due to changes in my style of DXing. (Perseus wideband recordings), and can't really justify an £800 decoration. I was surprised by the last set I saw on e bay fetching around £850, and was sold quickly, so these receivers are obviously very much sought after and collectable now. More so since the 545 was discontinued by JRC a few years back. I have watched my fellow MW dxers sell their traditional receivers, since the arrival of the Perseus and wideband recordings, but I have held on to my NRD until now. So for a quick sale, £800 or offers?? This will include the next day delivery in the UK. If anyone abroad is interested, they will have to contact me first and I can investigate transit costs, which I will have to charge extra for. NB: I am open to offers, but if I don't have any decent offers, I keep it. It's as simple as that.
This sale will also be going up on e bay sometime, unless I have a surprise quick sale before then.
RECEIVER REVIEW: The best review on the web I think is this one, which describes the receiver in great detail.

DESCRIPTION: This is a sale of the NRD 545 receiver from JRC, SN 05497. (Yes its after the time when there was a factory mod, upgrade so don't worry.) The receiver is 0-30MHz only, or whatever. It DOES NOT have the inbuilt VHF board. I have the original handbook with it, with 2 receipts of purchase, Lowes 1998, and Nevada 2005. I don't have a 12v lead, and have never tried it. I'd assume it is fine. I can try it if required. The receiver was bought exclusively for MW dxing and was used as my main DX machine for a number or years. It superceded my NRD 515, and Lowe HF225E receivers. I also had an AOR 7030 at one time, but it has been traded against a VHF/ UHF ICOM. But the 545 was the main dx machine against the other receivers, mainy due to the variable bandwidth, fast tuning through the memory channels, etc. I used to listen at some distance through a long serial cable, using PC software, ie lying in bed by a pc, while the rx was down in the shack. (Lazy mans dxing??). Can't really supply the long lead, as its buried below the ground... but it is a standard PC serial/ parallel lead. The receiver in the time I have had it has not been modded in any way, and looks free from screwdriver experts. I can't speak for the previous owner but I have no complaints and the radio has never given me a minutes trouble. Like any receiver, better results will be obtained using a decent hi fi amp and speakers, rather than the tiny inbuilt speakers in these units. I was going to try and join some of the on line receiver groups at one time so dxers could maybe use the 545 with a 500m beverage, but have never got around to it. Maybe one day I can join Global Tuners or whatever with a Perseus connected to a beverage.

NO TIME WASTERS PLEASE.
PAYMENT AND TERMS: First come first served, cash only. It may be inconvenient for some, but I do not want any cheques, postal orders etc. Personal collection is cool as well, by prior arrangement (incase I'm out) and of course the rx can be heard plugged into a beverage or whatever.. I paid for this with good old fashioned cash in 2005, from Nevada. A Registered and insured letter through the UK Royal Mail is not very expensive. And if it is insured for £1000 they don't tend to lose them!!!
I have not had any trouble or oddities with the rx, other than the known characteristics of the circuits as described in the review, see link above, and hence, bought as seen / described. No refunds or returns will be accepted. |
