Radio
Telstar South broadcast to London during the 1970's on 92.8MHz, normally
for just one hour per week between 7pm and 8pm on a Sunday evening.
Despite the brief broadcast times, the station was extremely popular in
the days when the only legal alternatives were BBC Radio 1 and Capital
Radio. The format was golden oldies, something that was to
be copied two decades later by todays so called 'gold' stations |
Here
are two airchecks from Sunday 19th March 1978. The first features
the Radio Telstar South sign on at 7pm, followed by the Kid Johnson
show. (File size = 370k) The second is the sign-off, again with Kid Johnson, following a Motown special from Horace Cracksman(?). (File Size = 270k) |
