Radio City was unique in that it broadcast 1950s and 1960s rock and roll and similar music to London. It transmitted from North West London initially on 1260kHz / 238m and then 1278kHz / 235m from 1978 to 1985. Another station called Radio Memphis was heard in the same area of the band on 1260kHz from 1985, and is thought to be linked to the original Radio City through similar presenters. |

And below a badge received
from Radio City, which used to play rock and roll music
to London on 1260kHz / 238 metres every Sunday during the late 1970's and
early 1980's.
Also heard via European Music Radio on SW in the late 70s.
The station was later heard on 1278kHz / 235m.
(Must rescan that dreadful quality image!!!!!)

1979_09_09_sun_city_1260am_1155-1320_signon_gravelrash_wildwillywest-gh190.mp3 New Feb 2024 | Following some test music, Radio City signs on at mid-day on Sunday 9th September 1979. The 'Gravel Rash' rock n'roll show (we think) starts off the shows and is followed at 1pm by Wild Willy West. Lots of gigs are advertised for the week. Recorded from 1260kHz whilst driving around Alexandra Palace, so there are one or two fades. |

Not sure of the name of the first presenter, but Luke the Duke takes over at 1pm. Recorded in Ickenham from 1278kHz. | 13MB |

1985_09_15_sun_memphis_1260am_1115-1230_superman-gh547.mp3 New Jan 2023 | A recording of Radio Memphis from Sunday 15th September 1985. Superman is the presenter in the middle of the recording, but the deejays either side of his programme are not known. Recorded in Ickenham from 1260kHz. There is a heterodyne and some background interference which is probably from Centre Radio in Leicester, which at the time operated on the same frequency. |
