Medium Wave Broadcast Dxing Antennas

The Beverage

The beverage is a simple antenna to make but one of the best antennas for medium wave dxing. It can be made from any length of wire but ideally it should be at least 300 meters long up to a 1000 meters long

The Flag/Pennant

Two good antennas with good back rejection and small enough for the average garden.

The Indoor Flag/Loop

This is an indoor flag/loop antenna which for its size and being indoors works amazing on mw dx. The back rejection on this antenna is up there with outside ewe's etc and will certainly pull in the dx for you.

The Ewe

Half of a flag/loop antenna using the ground as the other half. Another good antenna with good back nulls and again small enough for the average garden

The Super Loop

If you have no space for a beverage and could fit this antenna in your garden I really suggest you give it a try. It's the big brother of the indoor flag/loop antenna and again excellent back nulls and will bring in the dx from the direction that you want.

Variants: You can experiment with what space you have available. You don't have to go by the book. You could make hybrids of antennas to suit your needs, and if it doesn't work you can try another combination that will work for you. I have no room in my garden. I hear you say then try a small multi turn loop which could be sat next to your receiver. For its size can bring in dx and has excellent nulling on it. These are just a few of many mw antennas which are out there some will work at one place and be bad at another, so its up to you to experiment to see what's good at your location. You could even invent your own mw dx antenna !!
