This version of Tower Radio consisted of
a number of test transmissions made by Bert Williams during 1990 on 1161kHz, announced as 259 metres. The signal was very good,
but the promised full time broadcasts are not thought to have commenced.
A few years later tests were also heard on FM. The station did
eventually seem to operate regularly, but later on in 2005. |

It was an interesting choice of frequency considering that Piccadilly was on the next channel of 1152kHz. This recording was made near Blackpool from 1161kHz, announced as 259 metres. |

This recording was made near Blackpool from 106.2MHz in mono, and has a few crackles on it, but not bad for the distance. |
