This incarnation of KISS FM was first heard testing during April 1989, and was reported as commencing regularly from 18th June. The station then attempted seven day operating and put out a strong signal on 97.1MHz which at times could be heard across North West England.  Operating times were at this time 0700 until 0100. Programming wise, it seemed to consist mainly of non-stop music with jingles, promos and adverts but deejay presented programmes were reported at one point. The station was raided in late July 1989 but returned the following day. KISS were then raided again in early August and it is not known whether they ever returned to the air.

1989_08_00_kissfm_971fm-gh804.mp3 New Jul 2025 A three hour example of the programming on KISS FM from an unknown date in early August 1989.  The station seemed to be nonstop music with jingles and a few adverts. It was possibly using video cassettes to broadcast long pre-recorded programming. On this recording a broadcast tape seems to come to an end after about 17 minutes, and then there are a lot of dropouts as the next part of the programming continues. Recorded from 97.1MHz in mono near Blackpool. 176MB
