Founder Lepke apparently began transmissions of The Dread Broadcasting Corporation on 214m during 1981 to the North West of London. DBC aimed to play reggae music which at the time was missing on the UK airwaves. The station later moved to FM and following closure around 1984, some of the presenters carried on the station under the name JBC.
