Radio Unicorn were first heard
during the Summer of 1987 and announced as broadcasting to the Dumbarton and
Clydebank area of the Clyde Valley on 103.2MHz.
The
station was raided on 21st September 1987 and it is not certain if they broadcast
regularly
after this. According to a newspaper clipping there was a return to the air in
September 1989 following a failed community
radio license application, but Radio Unicorn was raided again in 1991. More

It wasn't too long before the station attracted the attention of the DTI, an the above cutting reports on a raid on Monday 21st September 1987 at around 2259. (Click image for full size - 3.4MB) |

The reason for Radio Unicorn not returning regularly after a raid in September 1987 could well have been they were applying for one of the new Community Licenses, but as the application failed, they decided to return to the air anyway.
