Radio Free City was another familiar voice from the 1980's on the SW bands. That voice was also familiar to MW dxers in Scotland at one stage as well, as the station began on MW, before migrating to FM and finally SW.

Issue 7 of the free radio magazine 'Soundwaves' contained the following report of raid on Radio Free City in December 1979, and the resulting court case

Issue 8 of the free radio magazine 'Soundwaves' issued in Spring 1980 contained a brief history of Radio Free City until that point as written by Mark Snow. The station did return, but on shortwave.

By 1980, Radio Free City had migrated to shortwave and was being heard across Europe.
