Below are a seclection of photographs of WLCB and WCR taken from various visits to the station over the years by the AUK team, as well as by Steve West on his travels. Dates of the visits are November 1983, May 1984, (both AUK) and October 1986 (Steve & co). |
PHOTOS OF WICKLOW COMMUNITY RADIO / WLCB
The home of WCR / WLCB at 1 Wentworth Place in Wicklow. In 1983, left it looks like the MW transmitter is housed at the studio location, but by 1986 when the photo on the right was taken, the two fm band 2 antennas seem to dominate the skyline. The FM is unusually horizontally polarised, though this may have only been the link transmitter to the main site?? |

Poster on the wall in May 1984 at WCR. The image on the right is poster only, and squared up a litlle. |

Station owner Leo Doyle with Tony Allan, at WCR / WLCB, taken by the AUK team in May 1984. The text on the wall in reception, also May 1984 is for Wicklow Community Radio, but CB is on the wall to the left of Tony, suggesting a relaunch as WLCB is not too far away. We have not looked through the archives yet to try and find a date for the relaunch and move to 1602kHz.. |

The on air studio of WLCB in October 1985, taken by the AUK team. Above in black and white, photos of Scott Williams on Wicklow Community Radio taken in May 1984. They were taken in black and white for easier printing in the Dutch 'Free Radio Magazine' which was doing a feature on Irish radio. Scott's slogans above the desk are quite easily read, see below... |
