ARD,
at one time Alternative Radio Dublin, in 1981, during a visit in August
of that year. The whole trip was an eye opener to four young lads from
the UK, that had never seen the Irish pirates and their operations. |

ARD studio in the Crofton, with the Caroline article in the paper on the
desk. The date for the visit, 14th August 1981. Look for the switch to
change frequency, between the clock and the DJ, in the right hand image.

The ARD transmitter in the Crofton, as mentioned in "Radio Radio", laid
out on the floor in bits!!. It may have been built on the floor in bits,
but it was a good powerful signal in Scotland for the time. |

Airport Hotel Right: The ARD mast, taken with a small instamatic camera on the old 126 cartridges. This is one of the better shots taken that holiday. I had a habit of taking a mast at that crazy angle, so there was more chance of the whole thing being in the photo. This image however was never designed to be used in a nice neat web page... On the high res version you can just about see the vertical and horizontal of the inverted L MW aerial. |
