A couple of
rather poor photos of the station banner in the studios, taken during a visit to West Coast
Community Radio in April 1983.
Sadly the entire station name is not visible in
either photo.

West Coast Community Radio operated from an industrial warehouse just outside Galway City during 1982 and early 1983. They broadcast on 1125kHz to the Galway area, and could also be regularly heard far and wide late at night when the frequency was clear, presumably after Radio Carousel had signed off. The transmitter was believed to be the same one used at WKRC in Newbridge during 1981 and early 1982. It was then on 1250kHz. |

Recorded in Galway from 1125kHz. The tape was somewhat distorted, but it is not known if this was due to the broadcast, or the old tape. The recording was originally from Tony Donlon. Due to a tape fault only 30 minutes the 60 are listenable and reproduced here. |

Dermot finishes the news and it followed by 'Drive Time' with Paul Jones. The recording sadly fades out for some reason, possibly due to the battery running out on the tape machine. |
