PIRATES A / Z
LLCR stood at one time for Liberties Local Community Radio. The owner was Sammy Prendergast, who was instrumental in putting up many of the aerial towers for the pirates around Dublin, and on the Radio Paradise ship, the Magda Maria. Sammy also had a "Late Night Store" type shop on site. LLCR must have achieved some status on the ratings as guys like Peter Madison, and even the legendary offshore broadcaster Tony Allan worked on LLCR!! Keiran Murray also worked at the station. In later days the name was changed slightly to LIBERTY 104. LLCR was a difficult one to hear on MW in Scotland due to ILR activity on 1035, but it was possible to dx the station. The FM also came through regularly. The 1035 frequency was noted as Capitol Radio in January 1986 in an AUK frequency list. But by July 1986, the list included LLCR. |

LLCR QSL sheet which was given to us by Peter Madison during a visit in 1986. Sadly when one was sent back for signing, no reply was forthcoming. On the rigfht is the studio as it was in 1986, taken by Steve West. |
