PIRATES A / Z
The Irish Christian Broadcasting Service was a unique station broadcasting Christian programming to the Dublin area. It was operated by folks who were familiar to SW pirate enthusiasts around Europe. Gary St John and DJ Karen had been heard on Skull and Bones Radio System on SW during 1978 time, returning briefly in the 80's. The ICBS were heard in their early days on 1071kHz, announced as 280m until February 1985, when they moved to 891kHz, which had been recently vacated by NDCR. In early May 1985 they were heard on 981kHz announced as 306m, on which they stayed until they finally closed due to legislation in December 1988. |
Two slightly
different flyers advertising ICBS and their frequency of 981kHz.
On the left image, 1071kHz is still advertised in small text.
The frequency graphic has not been changed from 1071kHz, despite the frequency change to
981kHz.
